Public Questions

A period of up to 30 minutes during which any resident of the Borough or representative of organisations operating within the Borough (other than members of the Council) may ask questions on matters relevant to the Committee.

Petitions

To receive petitions submitted by Councillors or members of the public who live, work or study in the Borough. The petition must contains at least 20 signatures*, and notice of the intention to submit the petition is given in writing to democratic.services@kingston.gov.uk by 10am on the last working day prior to the meeting.

Petition report - 'Protecting the last viewpoint of the Countryside below Chessington' pdf icon PDF 1 MB

To acknowledge and respond to the petition calling for protection of “the last viewpoint of the countryside below Chessington” that received 1,415 signatures and was formally submitted to the South of the Borough Neighbourhood Committee on 29 June 2021.

 

The petition reached the threshold for it to be debated at the Place Committee on 23 September 2021.

To recommend the Draft Climate Emergency Action Plan be approved for public engagement and agree the engagement approach and timetable.

Developing a new sport and leisure strategy and managing the leisure estate pdf icon PDF 102 KB

To inform the Committee of the intentions to develop a new sport, physical activity and leisure strategy for the Borough, and set out how the strategy will be developed and delivered.

 

To set out the intentions to review the existing indoor and outdoor leisure facilities strategy recommendations which will inform the priorities on how the leisure estate should be managed in the future, and to undertake a detailed options appraisal which will clearly set out the commissioning intentions that will inform what a future commercial operating model could look like which we will bring to the Committee on 11 November 2021 for consideration, and approval of the preferred commercial operating model the Council should consider to adopt in order to manage the totality of the leisure estate in the future.

Exclusion of the Press and Public

The following resolution is included as a standard item which will only be relevant if any exempt matter is to be considered at the meeting for which the Committee wish to resolve to exclude the press and public: 4 To exclude the public from the meeting under Section 100(A)(4) of the Local Government Act 1972 on the grounds that it is likely that exempt information, as defined in paragraph x of Part I of Schedule 12A to the Act, would be disclosed and the public interest in maintaining the exemption outweighs the public interest in disclosing the information.
