Thank you for your letter and petition addressed to the Mayor of the Royal Borough of Kingston upon Thames, on the subject of dogs and cats meat consumption in South Korea.
Whilst the situation described is deeply worrying, we understand the British Embassy in Seoul has raised the issue of animal cruelty with the South Korean authorities on numerous occasions, explaining that the UK public would like to see the practice come to an end. We would encourage concerned individuals and groups to continue working with the Foreign and Commonwealth Office to seek appropriate opportunities to raise the issue further.
